Sport in 2020 to Watch out For


On the run up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which kick of in July, there is plenty of going on in the world of sport to watch out for.

We give you a quick run down of the main sporting events happening each month leading up to the 2020 Olympics.


The sporting year kicks off with the PDC world darts final, as is tradition every year, on New Year’s Day.  During the first month of the year there is a lot going on, for example the snooker triple crown events, the Carabao Cup final and the FA Cup.  On top of all this there will be tennis held in Australia as well as cricket.


This month begins with the Six Nations rugby tournament in Europe, and on the other side of the pond then Super bowl LIV is being held in Miami.  There is also basketball in Chicago and world track cycling being held in Berlin.


March signals the start of Formula One in Melburne, and it also brings the biggest week of the year in horse racing, the Cheltenham Festival.  Staying in the UK, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland will battle for a position in the Euro 2020 football championships.  China is also hosting the world indoor athletics championships.


Men’s golf kicks off in Augusta with Tiger Woods defending his Masters title.  April also marks the first time that a grand prix will be held in Vietnam.  It also highlights the start of the London Marathon, the start of the County Championship cricket and more cricket at the Crucible.


May is a big month for football finals, with the FA Cup finals taking place at Wembley, as well as the Champions League, the Scottish Cup, Europa League and EFL play offs.  There will also be a bit of cycling with the Giro d’Italia and motorsport with the Indy 500 and Monaco GP.


The last month we are showcasing is June, and this month host the Euro 2020 as well as the Tour de France, two very prestigious sporting events.
